Allison Linney
Allison Linney is the President and Founder of Allison Partners, a woman-owned small business founded with the belief that people are at the core of an organization’s success. Allison received her B.A. in English from the University of Virginia, then worked as a consultant within Accenture’s Human Performance Service Line. She returned to Charlottesville, Virginia, to earn her M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business, and started Allison Partners while she was a student.
Allison was fortunate to grow up in a family where both her mother and father built their careers in healthcare, helping physicians develop leadership skills they were not exposed to during their medical training. Her parents provided executive education, coaching, facilitation, and recruiting services; published multiple books for physician leaders; and were instrumental in developing the Certified Physician Executive credential — instilling in Allison an early passion for working in healthcare.
Accenture was Allison’s first employer after graduating from the University of Virginia, and she was immediately brought into the firm’s healthcare practice, working with the University of Maryland Healthcare System, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic, and NovaCare Rehabilitation, the largest physical therapy network in the U.S. She then returned to Charlottesville to attend the Darden School of Business, where she developed the business plan that would become Allison Partners.
As President and Founder of Allison Partners for the past 26 years, Allison is proud of the team and partners she has recruited to bring both sound theory and practical experience to the challenges of organizational development. They all enjoy helping clients navigate the “messy, complicated, wonderful people stuff” that happens at work.
Allison has helped leaders, managers, and employees be more effective across a range of industries with a consistent focus on healthcare. Her expertise spans leadership development, professional coaching, organization design and development, group facilitation, training, change management, and advisory services. Allison has also served on the faculty of the American Association for Physician Leadership since 2009 (read her AAPL bio), and she blogs frequently about healthcare-related topics. Allison uses these assessments to support her work in healthcare.
Allison was selected as the 2018 Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year and now serves on the board. She supports many local nonprofits, has served on a variety of boards, and is especially proud to be Chair Emeritus of the University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies board.
