How to Be a Better Remote Worker

7 May 2020

Janie read several articles about working from home, considered the best practices Rachel has shared with us at Allison Partners, and pondered discussions with her teammates about things we can do to be better remote workers.

At Allison Partners, we are grateful that so much of our work can be done remotely. We’ve been having weekly team meetings through Zoom to catch up and stay connected since we closed our office 15 March due to COVID-19. During a recent team huddle, we talked about different things we are doing to be better remote workers. It was interesting to discuss the ideas that each of us find helpful, and to see the similarities and differences between what we are all finding useful.

Here is a compilation of suggestions for being a more effective remote worker as well as links to some of the articles we’ve found useful.

While we remain optimistic that we’ll return to the office eventually, one of the things that we know for sure is that it’s nearly impossible to make definitive plans right now. It seems that no matter what state (or country) you call home, there’s a good chance that some kind of remote work will be useful in the future. Given that, it makes sense to do what we can to get better at this way of working.
