What We're Reading Now

Adjust the Plan When Necessary

29 September 2015

Allison had a complicated night of airline travel and couldn't get a new blog post updated before her Tuesday midnight deadline. Instead, she's sharing her favorite David Whyte poem that helped her to stay calm when the flight got particularly bumpy.

There were some bad storms on the east coast tonight which made for a pretty scary flight from Boston to Washington Dulles. Eventually, we were diverted to Philadelphia to refuel and then flew back to Dulles. I missed my connection so a cab will be taking me back to Charlottesville.

In the midst of all these travel adventures, I was working on a new post about practicing self-compassion. However, with working out my travel arrangements and my limited internet connectivity for the last seven hours, I realized I wouldn't be able to get something new posted by midnight.

(It's hard to take a good picture of the moon.)

With all this in mind, please enjoy this post from the archives about one of my favorite David Whyte poems, Faith. When things got particularly scary on the plane tonight, reciting this poem helped me to stay calm. Tune in next week for my thoughts on practicing self-compassion. (I think I just practiced a little tonight.)
